"The image depicts mouse lungs developing tumors based on mutations frequently observed in human cancer.  The inset depicts a lung cancer cell derived from these tumors and cultured in vitro.  This cell provides a dramatic illustration of severely abnormal cell division and genomic instability in lung cancer.  At the same time, this genomic instability highlights a window of opportunity for therapeutic intervention by targeting the DNA damage repair pathways in which tumors are critically dependent."
