The goal of this work is to define how macrophages contribute to tissue remodeling during the lung branching morphogenesis phase of fetal lung development and how anti-inflammatory molecules can potentially alter this process. This image, taken using a combination of fluorescent and darkfield microscopy, shows rat fetal lungs stained with a fluorescent dye that stains predominantly cell vacuoles involved in breaking down macromolecules. We were trying to determine the where tissue remodeling was taking place and if macrophages were involved.
