"This is an image of mouse brain cells cultured on a plastic coverslip and then stained with fluorescent antibodies. [It] was taken as part of a larger autism study in which I was attempting to determine the subcellular localization of a particular autism-related protein. [The] image indicates that the autism-related protein of interest may be expressed in glial cells, which are the support cells of the brain."
