Seen here is 12 ounces of fluorescent GFP-tagged recombinant protein in a flask, under a UV lamp. I needed a large quantity of a fluorescently-modified bacterial protein in order to test for its ability to inhibit HIV binding to cells. I used 12 liters of bacterial culture to produce almost 3 grams of GFP-tagged protein, and I thought it was an impressive amount!
