A cross-section of multicellular spheroids created using a high throughput method is shown. Endothelial cells, the cells that make up your blood vessels, are shown in green and fibroblasts, a structural cell, are shown in red. The endothelial cells have migrated to the outside of the spheroid because they prefer creating a sheet, like in your blood vessels. These spheroids were formed as part of a validation process to create pancreatic spheroids that will be part of an endocrine pancreas-on-a-chip device. The long-term goal of this device is to create a Type 1 Diabetes model.
