This panel shows images of hippocampal neurons stained with the PRISM technique. We are interested in identifying changes in synaptic protein levels that are associated with cognitive disorders. This technique allows us to measure the protein content at synapses at a higher detail than previously possible, enabling us to identify specific combinations of proteins associated with disorders. We wanted to measure changes in synaptic levels of multiple targets within the same sample following induction of homeostatic synaptic plasticity. This is the first time 12 different proteins have been imaged simultaneously within the same sample.
