Into the Breach 2: Implantable Pharmacies

This image shows a biodegradable scaffold with a highly intricate porous surface that can be implanted in the body and used as a drug delivery depot to release multiple drugs in a controlled manner. Such an approach can be used for applications ranging from delivering chemotherapeutics to regenerative medicine to repair new tissue in the body.
